Terms of Service

Last updated: May 1, 2026

1. Acceptance

By using Miqat (“the Service”) you agree to these Terms of Service and to our Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Service.

These terms cover both members (people attending events) and organizers (people running organizations on the platform). Where a section applies only to one role, we say so.

2. Your account

  • You must provide truthful information when you sign up. Impersonation or fake accounts are not allowed.
  • Keep your password confidential. We strongly recommend enabling MFA in your security settings.
  • You’re responsible for activity on your account. If you think your account is compromised, change your password and contact us immediately.
  • You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.

3. Acceptable use

When using Miqat, you agree not to:

  • Harass, threaten, defame, or discriminate against other users.
  • Post content that is unlawful, hateful, sexually explicit, or that incites violence.
  • Misrepresent yourself or your organization, or claim a verification status you’re not entitled to.
  • Use the Service to spam, scrape, or otherwise extract member or organization data without permission.
  • Interfere with the Service’s security, rate limits, or other technical measures.
  • Use the Service to host events or content that are illegal in the jurisdiction where the event takes place.

Miqat is built for the Islamic community. We expect interactions on the platform to reflect the ethical standards of the community it serves — including respect, honesty, and care for others — alongside the legal rules above.

4. Organizations and verification

  • If you register an organization, you confirm that you have authority to do so on its behalf.
  • Verification is optional but encouraged. Verified organizations have undergone a documents-and-identity check by our team. Verification can be revoked if false information is later discovered.
  • Organizations are responsible for the accuracy of their public profile, event details, refund policy, and any communications they send through Miqat.
  • Organizations must comply with applicable laws on data protection, accessibility, and consumer rights in their jurisdiction.

5. Events, RSVPs, and tickets

  • An RSVP or ticket purchase creates a commitment between the attendee and the organizing organization, not with Miqat.
  • Refund and cancellation policies are set by the organizing organization. Where an organization publishes its own policy, that policy governs. Where it doesn’t, contact the organization directly.
  • Miqat reserves the right to remove an event that violates these Terms or that we have reasonable cause to believe is fraudulent.
  • Ticket QR codes are personal and non-transferable unless the organization explicitly enables transfer.

6. Payments

  • Paid tickets are processed via Stripe. By making a purchase you also agree to Stripe’s terms.
  • Miqat may charge a platform fee or subscription fee to organizations that use paid features. Pricing is shown at /pricing and inside Billing.
  • You authorize Stripe to charge the payment method you provide for orders you place.

7. Your content

  • You retain ownership of the content you post (event descriptions, organization profiles, photos, etc.).
  • By posting content on Miqat, you grant Miqat a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, display, distribute, and adapt that content for the purpose of operating and promoting the Service.
  • You confirm that you have the rights to any content you post and that it does not infringe the rights of others.
  • We may remove content that violates these Terms, or that we’re required to remove by law.

8. AI features

Miqat offers AI-assisted features (drafting event descriptions, marketing copy, volunteer suggestions, ticketing support chat). When you use them:

  • AI-generated text is a draft, not advice. Review it before publishing.
  • You’re responsible for what you publish from an AI draft — the same rules in Sections 3 and 7 apply.
  • AI output is clearly labelled in the dashboard.
  • Heavy AI features may consume credits from your plan’s monthly allowance or add-on balance.

9. Suspension and termination

  • You may delete your account at any time. Some records (orders, audit logs) may be retained as described in the Privacy Policy.
  • We may suspend or terminate an account or organization that violates these Terms, after notice where reasonably possible.
  • If your organization is suspended, its public events are hidden but member data is retained for the relevant retention period.

10. Service availability

We work to keep Miqat available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Planned maintenance, bug fixes, and feature changes may interrupt access. We’ll notify organizations of major planned downtime where reasonably possible.

11. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the maximum extent permitted by law, Miqat disclaims all warranties — express or implied — including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

Miqat is not the organizer of events listed on the platform. We are not responsible for the accuracy of event details, the conduct of attendees, the safety of venues, or any agreement you make with an organization.

12. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Miqat’s total liability to you for any claim arising out of these Terms or your use of the Service will not exceed the greater of (a) the fees you paid Miqat in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) USD $100.

Miqat is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data, loss of revenue, or loss of goodwill.

13. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where Miqat is operated. Disputes that cannot be resolved informally will be brought in the courts of that jurisdiction. Where you have non-waivable rights under your local consumer law, this clause does not override them.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We’ll announce material changes by email and at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after the change date means you accept the updated Terms.
